Position responsibility: -
The Driller is responsible for safe and efficient operations of drilling equipment and drill crew during assigned shift. The Driller is responsible for advising the Toolpusher if there is any concern with the current operations on the drill floor.

Area(s) of responsibility: -
The Driller is the immediate Supervisor responsible for the task delegation on the drill floor. Supervises and coordinates activities of entire drill crew.

Key Tasks:
(a) Supervise, coordinate, train, and evaluate the performance of the drill crew.

(b) Serve as the primary operator of drilling equipment within the guidelines of company policy and scheduled work program as determined by the customer.

(c) Participate and contribute to the objectives described in the MODU’s Annual QHSE Plan.

(d) Assist in the implementation and development of the Well Control Plan.

(e) Assure that proper care, safe use and maintenance of drilling equipment used by drill crew.

(f) Assist third party company personnel with preparation of drilling equipment needed for specific operations.

(g) Log all drilling operations to include what and when work is performed, the equipment used to drill the well, and the detailed scheduled maintenance record of drill line ton miles.

(h) Communicate with OIM / Toolpusher and Third Party Company personnel regarding drilling operations and the progress of the well.

(i) Maintain knowledge of all well control policies and procedures.

(j) Undertake audits and inspection as per Seadrill audit and inspection procedures.

(k) Participate fully in all safety initiatives and safety programs.

(l) Participate in all safety meetings, including weekly, pre-tour and pre-job / toolbox meetings.

(m) Initiate and participate in the identification of hazards and assessment of risk.

(n) Monitor personnel and equipment under their control for compliance with statutory requirements and Seadrill policies and procedures.

(o) Promote safe working practices.

(p) Ensure drilling crew exercise their well control duties.

(q) Ensuring all personnel under their supervision is given a clear and accurate report of work status, their responsibilities and duties to their relief.

(r) Work safely, act safely and take care for their own safety and that of others.

(s) Complete and sign the daily IADC reports.

(a) Familiarise him / herself with the Company Safety Policy and to take all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of him / her and persons likely to be affected by his / her acts or omissions, as required under the company Safety Management System.

(b) Ensure that they and the persons under their authority properly use and care for their personal protective equipment.

(c) Ensure that all working places for personnel are always, so far as reasonably practical, safe and clean.

(d) Ensure they and persons under their authority attend safety meetings, emergency and life saving drills in accordance with the Company Safety Policy.

(e) Bring to the immediate notice of the OIM / Toolpusher, actual and potential hazards to safety, health, plant and equipment that come to their attention in the course of their work.

Systems & Processes: -
(a) To understand and fully utilise the Seadrill SMS system.

(b) Know and understand the Seadrill SMS RED procedures

(c) Provide SMS training as required to other drilling team members.

(a) Ensure that all employees under their authority have sufficient information and knowledge to carry out their job without endangering any persons, plant or equipment and are adequately trained and experienced for a particular task before they are instructed to carry it out.

(b) Ensure that health and safety at work and accident prevention are continuously brought to the attention of all employees under their authority by means of job supervision, instruction and training.

Quality: -
(a) Ensure compliance to all relevant Company management systems and where applicable client procedures.
